Faculty, students, staff and their friends and families attended the Sunday, May 19, annual awards and recognition event held at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. After a brief pre-presentation reception, Department Head Anantha Chandrakasan welcomed the attendees and opened the program with recognition of some major awards received during the past year by members of the EECS faculty. Sir Tim Berners-Lee was recognized for winning the inaugural Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering and Shafi Goldwasser and Silvio Micali were recognized for winning the 2012 ACM Turing Award, widely considered the "Nobel Prize in Computing."
Following the awards to faculty, staff and students, the guests were treated to a lively performance by the MIT Chorallaries.
