EECS Professor Max Shulaker
Jane Halpern | Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Max Shulaker has received the Early Career Award from the IEEE Nanotechnnology Council. The award will be formally presented at IEEE Nano 2021 in Montreal, Canada, and recognizes individuals who have made contributions with a major impact on the field of nanotechnology. In the announcement of the individual awards, the IEEE Nanotechnology Council cited Shulaker's "pioneering work in carbon nanotubes and the broad area of nano-systems, including nanofabrication technologies, nanodevices, circuits, and architectures."
A core faculty member within MTL, Shulaker joined the faculty at MIT in 2016. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering. During his Ph.D., his research on carbon nanotube-based transistors and circuits resulted in the first digital systems built entirely using carbon nanotube FETs (including the first carbon nanotube microprocessor), the first monolithic three-dimensional integrated circuits combining arbitrary vertical stacking of logic and memory, and the highest performance and highly-scaled carbon nanotube transistors to-date.
